Scott R. Hall joined the firm in 2022 and concentrates his practice in the areas of insurance defense, coverage litigation, and medical malpractice defense. Prior to joining the firm, Scott practiced in a wide range of practice areas including probate, collections, guardianships, estate planning, insurance subrogation, family law, municipal law, creditor’s rights in bankruptcy, workers’ compensation and employment law with law firms serving the Rockford area and Northern Illinois. He regularly serves as an Arbitrator for the 17th Circuit Mandatory Arbitration Program and is involved in several professional associations.
Prior to beginning the practice of law, Scott attended the Northern Illinois College of Law, where he served as Managing Editor of the Law Review and Associate Justice of the Moot Court Society. He also served as an extern to the Honorable Judge J. Edward Prochaska of the 17th Circuit of Illinois and served as a Research and Reference Assistant at the David C. Shapiro Memorial Law Library. He also served as research assistant to Professor Heidi Kuehl researching the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. He was a student attorney for the Northern Illinois University College of Law Health Advocacy Clinic, assisting clients with applications for SSI and SSDI, as well as with basic estate planning documents. During the summer of his second year, he worked as a summer associate with a national law firm, assisting attorneys with such practice areas as environmental law and medical malpractice defense.
As an undergraduate, Scott studied Linguistics, studying German, French, Hindi, and other foreign languages, as well as the psychological and social aspects of human language.
In his free time, he enjoys traveling, hiking, and reading books on a variety of topics including languages, law, US and world history, as well as books by some his favorite authors such as Tom Clancy, John Grisham, Yukio Mishima, and Steven Pinker. He also loves golfing and playing disc golf.
